Miss Sophie Gray Bumgarner, 18 months of Cherryville, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Sophie was born in Catawba County, on December 22, 2022. She brought great joy and touched so many lives in her short time here. Sophie Gray was a beautiful, spunky little daredevil. She loved riding dirt bikes and go carts with her family. Sophie Gray loved snacks, icees, her "pappy" and her big sister. She is missed and she will be loved forever.

The family has started a scholarship fund to support local high school students in their future endeavors. Each year there will be events to raise money for the scholarship.
